a meditation on loss, intergenerational trauma, and postmemory, this artist's book uses frottage (a pencil-rubbing technique popular on gravestones) to record traces of missing photos left behind in pre-1940s family albums recovered after the Holocaust.
these physical markers—dried glue residue, recessed photo windows, rips, and tears—serve as evidence of speculative artifacts: interrupted family histories, archival absence, and an inability to record the un-recordable.
